Meet Russ, TWT’s New Procurement Manager

We’re thrilled to announce that TWT Group is growing once again.

It’s been a big year for us. Last month, we announced that we’re happily serving 100 clients. We’ve been busy adding to our team to maintain our high levels of service and accountability.

Russ Altman has taken on the role of procurement manager. He’s responsible for forming and managing partnerships with the vendors who supply our clients with hardware and software, including computers, monitors, laptops, routers, servers, phones, backup systems and cloud applications.

“I negotiate pricing and delivery schedules for all the materials our clients or TWT Group might need,” Russ said.

“I think my strengths are forming strong business relationships and seeing connections where other people may overlook them. I’m good at seeking out opportunities. I also have a somewhat unconventional approach to problem solving that will benefit both TWT and our clients.”

Prior to joining TWT, Russ ran his own procurement firm for seven years. Before that, he worked in accounting in the oil and gas industry.

Based in Monterrey, Mexico, Russ will work from home like the rest of the TWT team.

Because Russ works with a VoIP phone, it’s easy for Calgary clients (as well as those in Vancouver, Edmonton or Toronto) to reach him by dialling one of TWT’s local numbers.

If you call TWT Group for IT support, you may speak with Russ, who is spending some time learning how the ticketing system works and troubleshooting with clients.

“I love the position. It’s interesting and challenging. There’s lots of diversity from day to day,” Russ said.

Raised in Saskatchewan, Russ lived in Calgary for a decade before moving down to Mexico eight years ago to work remotely part-time and do volunteer work.

In his spare time, Russ likes to be in nature. He enjoys dirt biking, hiking, fishing and travelling.

“So far, I’ve travelled in Mexico a extensively, spent some some in the Caribbean, the U.S. and Canada. I’ve got a goal of seeing Europe and the other continents and being a part of the TWT family will afford me the opportunity to have an excellent work-life balance and achieve that goal.”

Welcome to the team, Russ!
